Why work with a Interior Designer?

The very first blog post I ever wrote was called ’5 reasons why… you might need an Interior Designer’. Everything in that post still stands, but four years later I have more experience under my belt and maybe a slightly clearer point of view.

After all, I’ve worked with many more clients now and while every single one has been different, ultimately the reasons for hiring me all boiled down to the same couple of things. And they all benefitted in the same way, even if it wasn’t how they expected in the beginning.

So, why would you work with an Interior Designer?

  1. To save you money

Home projects and renovations can be expensive. Even the smallest jobs can spiral if mistakes are made or projects have to be re-done sooner than planned because you didn’t like the outcome. It happens to the best of us!

Working with an interior designer, having their eye and their skills on hand to support you in making decisions and finding what actually works for you, means you’re more likely to love the end result. This doesn’t mean playing it safe! It means taking some design risks, finding your style and creating a space you truly love with confidence. Reaching that point without the need for do-overs, millions of paint samples and furniture that doesn’t fit. Building a home that you’ll be happy to live in for years to come.

2. To save you time

So much inspiration, so many options, so little time! Or maybe you’re not short on time but without the pressure of a deadline you struggle to make decisions and a project never gets finished or even started!

Even if you have the vision and the ideas, if can often be lack of time that stops you short. Let us take on the time consuming shopping, scrolling and decision-making to bring you refined options, within budget and to meet your needs.

3. To use our expertise and make the best use of our space

Training, knowledge and working day in, day out with interiors means we have the ways and means to create spaces which look beautiful and work for you. You might be surprised to know how much theory there is behind interior design. Sometimes, you might think something should work and for some reason, it just doesn’t. An interior designer probably knows why. Think lighting, proportion, colour theory… there’s more to it than you might think!

4. To reduce the overwhelm

A never ending list of decisions and infinite choices can be overwhelming and can put the brakes on a project before you’ve even begun. Decision fatigue is real! Especially when working on a renovation project or when you’re feeling the pressure to use every penny wisely. Sometimes you need a fresh pair of eyes to filter through all of the options, do the research and provide a refined list of choices which tick all of your boxes.

That’s what an interior designer can do - take the stress off your shoulders and do the leg work, importantly, paying attention to the details that you might overlook in your decision fatigued state! It’s all about supporting you in making informed decisions for you and your home.

5. To collaborate and support

This isn’t a take over. Interior design is all about creating homes for the people that live in them.

We want to get to know you, your lifestyle and how you want to live and feel in your home. We listen, we bring the ideas and expertise, and we work together to create something special.

Sometimes it’s just about needing someone to bounce your ideas around with, other times you need someone to take the lead.

Whatever it is, it’s your home, not mine, so we work to get it right for you.

If you’ve been sat on the fence about getting some help to tweak or transform a room in your house, maybe this has been the sign you need to make the move and get in touch!
